Alanis, Goo Goo Dolls, Furtado To Rock
Olympics Thanks to Jeffrey Kee for submitting this article Alanis Morissette, Goo Goo Dolls, and Nelly Furtado have been added to the Hallmark Olympic Celebration series of concerts during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. As previously reported, the series will kick off with the Dave Matthews Band on Feb. 9, a day after the opening ceremonies, and will continue through Feb. 24 with Martina McBride, the day of the closing ceremonies. The one-hour shows will be held in the Olympic Medals Plaza, which can accommodate approximately 20,000 spectators, according to the Salt Lake Olympic Committee. The shows comprise just a handful of the music-related Olympic festivities. As previously reported, Sting, Dixie Chicks, LeAnn Rimes, the Band's Robbie Robertson, Yo-Yo Ma, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will participate in the Feb. 8 opening ceremonies at Rice-Eccles Stadium, while 'N Sync, Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, Charlotte Church, Josh Groban, and Harry Connick Jr. will all take part in the closing ceremonies.
