Alanis Targeted by Anti-abortion Group

(9/10/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Alanis Morissette's scheduled headlining appearance at the upcoming Voters For Choice benefit concert came under fire, perhaps predictably, from at least one anti-abortion group Friday (September 7).

This Washington, D.C., concert on September 25 in support of political candidates who favor of reproductive rights "is nothing more than an opportunity to raise blood money for people who have no respect for the sanctity of human life," says Bryan Kemper, the director of Rock For Life.

Kemper calls on anti-abortion fans of the multiplatinum star to take a stand. "Break the disc, mail it to her, and tell her you just can't support an artist who raises money for legalized homicide," he says.

Morissette is on the Voters For Choice bill alongside Blues Traveler's John Popper and Chan Kinchla, singer-songwriter Joe Henry, and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
